Camp Felix A BroaderWay

Founded by Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and casting director Sheila Jaffe, The Felix Organization provides life-changing experiences for youth in the foster care system.

This summer, The Felix Organization and A BroaderWay Foundation came together to pilot a brand-new sleep away camp designed specifically for 4th-8th grade students from Mott Haven Academy Charter School. This merging of Camp Felix and Camp ABW has created an opportunity to combine missions, expand programming, and deepen impact through exposure of foster and underserved youth to the arts. Camp Felix-ABW enabled 25 youth to engage in classes across three core disciplines: theater, dance and spoken word.

Campers also participated in traditional camp activities such as swimming, team sports and social nights. In engaging in these creative spaces, campers were encouraged to discover their voices, build self-expression, and grow in confidence–skills that go beyond summer.

Camp Felix-ABW had a very successful launch this summer and we are excited to see where it grows!

CLASSES: All participants attend classes across four core disciplines: theater, voice, dance and spoken word.

ACTIVITIES: Future Leaders participate in traditional camp activities such as swimming, team sports, and social nights.

COMMUNITY: It’s about connection: campers will build confidence, make lasting friendships, and return home with memories that stretch far beyond the summer.
